Catholic Schools Week 2017
Catholic Schools Week took place this year from the 29th of January to the 4th of February. This year Pope Frances is asking each of us to see the beauty in, care for, protect and share our common home through his letter the Laudato Si.
The boys and girls of SMGS marked Catholic Schools Week every day in class with their teachers. Students were encouraged to come up with ideas for how they can help care for and protect the beauty in Inchicore and for our environment in general. Fr. Billy also took every class on a nature walk followed by a short reflection and prayer service in the Church of Mary Immaculate afterwards.
This year we also marked Grandparents Day in SMGS as part of Catholic Schools Week. On Wednesday the 1st of February we had a Grandparents Coffee Morning in the Aras Mhuire Hall before our Assemblies. Many classes had grandparents call in to visit, with some classes asking grandparents about what life was like growing up when they were children and reflecting upon how things have changed since then.
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported Catholic Schools Week this year in SMGS. The attached picture is of our Catholic Schools Week display which was positioned on the main stairs of the school.
